I'm sure the statisticians would make a slight adjustment on her behalf if ever it looked likely. She should be proud that women have made such a success of one area of the workplace at last -- getting canned! Obviously they are much better at it than men (always supposing the statistics are not fabricated). No glass ceiling there.

Scott would have had some fun with this one? She hardly get's a mention in blogworld these days (at least not in the dives I visit). Perhaps Dan should be alerted. Well spotted!

What escapes Yazza, Harriet Hormone et al is that all the employment rights they have campaigned for actually make women (particularly of child-bearing age) more expensive and risky to employ. So, in a recession, business people will tend to get rid of women who might get pregnant. But this is a result of the peverse incentives of feminist employment legislation, not of sex discrimination as such. Ah, the wonder of the law of unintended consequences!

Interestingly, women are not, I understand, losing out in this way in the US, where employment legislation is not as feminist as here.

Seems to me that the LOUC applies to all life. Unless of course you believe it is all part of the Original Plan, which I know you do and I wish I could. Trouble is when you know it is unknowable what do you do? Wait and see I suppose, as the answers to urgent questions become more irrelevant by the day.

Where is Enoch FFS? We need a profound and ironic illustration here.

Well, we're all still alive at the moment, I see-

They don't let women work in Saudi, of course. I wonder if Yabba would like to slip into a black bag & shimmy off over there.
